Shotgun cartridges and 'possible firearms' have been discovered during searches in Dublin, gardaí say.
It comes after a loaded Makarov handgun with a silencer was discovered in wooded area off Waterville Road in Blanchardstown earlier this week.
Follow-up searches were launched yesterday following the discovery.
Gardaí and Defence Forces continued searching the area this morning.
In a statement, gardaí said: "During the course of these searches, shotgun cartridges and other items purporting to be firearms were recovered. "
They add that the operation was targeting the possession of firearms and their use by criminal gangs in the Blanchardstown area.
The force also says searches in the area have now finished.
