For most brides, hair and makeup is a huge part of the big day preparations before walking down the aisle.

However, one American woman recently caused quite a stir on social media after revealing that she chose to go makeup free on her wedding day.

Kaitlyn Chapman’s video generated over 30 million views online with opinions split very firmly down the middle - and even landed her an interview with CNN.

Stylist and broadcaster Laura Mullett told Lunchtime Live that she had expected to choose high glam for her own wedding but surprised herself by enjoying a more natural look.

“I love a little bit of glamour, but I find as you grow a little bit older and especially becoming a bride, I reassessed what I thought,” she said.

“I suppose when I was younger I thought, ‘Oh my god, tan stick and dream matte mouse were the height of makeup sophistication’.

“For me, more natural makeup works a little bit better because I’m quite pale skinned.”

Ms Mullett said no one should feel obligated to stick with a certain style on their wedding day, and if a bride felt her best going makeup free, so be it.
