Former Irish Olympic boxer, Michael Carruth, is best known for winning the welterweight gold medal at the1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
In recognition of his achievement at the Olympics, on the day of his return to Ireland, local pubs dropped the price of beer to that of 1956 (Ireland’s last great Olympics games).
