There are quite a few reports circulating this morning that Simpsons creator Matt Groening has entered discussions with Netflix to create a new animated series.
According to Variety, Netflix is understood to be considering two seasons with ten episodes in each season.
Since the end of Futurama, Groening hasn't been working on a lot of projects. He now serves as an Executive Producer and Creative Consultant for the Simpsons.
The Simpsons was recently renewed until 2017. It's now one of the longest-serving entertainment shows on TV.
The really interesting aspect to this, however, is the influence of Netflix. Although established as way more than just a streaming service now, the company are also managing to secure projects which are tied to a number of big names and creating quite a stir online, eg the influence of Making a Murderer.
This will certainly be interesting if it gets off the ground and it will certainly quieten down those Simpsons fans who believe it all ended after season 10...
