"In honour of National Bullying Prevention Month, see how Sinéad Burke takes a stand against bullying and advocates for people with disabilities", it said.

Instagram tweeted a quote from Ms Burke, and linked to a five minute video.

"Sinéad Burke is on a mission to make the fashion world more inclusive", Instagram said.

It has partnered Teen Vogue to share stories of advocates, who are taking a stand against bullying and sparking positive global change.

Ms Burke said: "I think often we underestimate how much we matter, both to the people around us and to the world.

"The world would not be the same without us. There would be a void, be it big or small.

"And I think often, we don't think we have an impact. But each of us really, truly does."

In the video, she said: "I can't remember my first encounter with bullying - but I know I have lived my entire existence explaining and educating to other people and validating my right to exist".

"Fashion has only ever catered for a very specific lens, and my job is to work with them to widen it".

"For me one of the big solutions to how people who look like me are treated is about visibility, education and changing society".

"Things can and should change - and I think we need to each have courage and confidence to take that step forth".

Ms Burke was recently named a 'Force for Change' by Britain's Meghan Markle in an issue of Vogue in the UK.

She is also responsible for the introduction of the term for little person, 'duine beag', into the Irish language.

And she was appointed to the Council of State by President Michael D Higgins in April.
