Sinéad O’Connor has described her son, Shane, as “the very light of my life” after his death at the age of 17.
The teenager went missing on Thursday and was last seen in the Tallaght area of Dublin on Friday.
Following his disappearance, the singer posted on her Twitter account, pleading with him to get in touch:
“Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you. You are my heart,” Sinéad wrote.
The teenager’s body was found in Bray, Co. Wicklow on Friday and Sinéad paid tribute to him:
“My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”
Later she tweeted a Bob Marley song and described him as, “The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.”
In a statement to The Irish Mirror, An Garda Síochána said:
“Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday 7 January 2022, a missing person appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down.”
