The late singer Sinéad O’Connor has been nominated for a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer was among 15 acts nominated for a spot in the iconic museum.
Cher, Mariah Carey, Oasis and Ozzy Osbourne have also been nominated.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Chairman John Sykes said the nominees “reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honours and celebrates”.
“Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”
To be eligible for a nomination, a singer or artist must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago.
The inducted singers will be chosen by industry experts and a public vote, which is currently open.
An artist’s musical impact and influence on other artists, length and depth of career and body of work are considered.
Inductees will be announced in late April, with ceremony taking place in autumn.

Ms O’Connor died of natural causes at the age of 56 on July 26th, 2023.
She first rose to fame in 1987 with her debut album The Lion and the Cobra.
Her second album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, was her biggest commercial success, selling over seven million copies worldwide and earning three Grammys.
She also hit the headlines when in 1992, she ripped up a picture of the Pope John Paul II live on US television to demand justice for children sexually abused at the hands of Catholic clergy.
“O’Connor was remembered as 'fierce’, 'brilliant’, 'honest’, 'vulnerable', ‘rebellious’, and 'unapologetic' by fans around the world and the generations of musicians she influenced and inspired, including Alanis Morissette, Massive Attack, Janelle Monae, and boygenius,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame said.
