A wax figure of Sinéad O’Connor has been unveiled at the National Wax Museum in Dublin.

The statue was unveiled by museum owner Paddy Dunning, one of Sinead’s lifelong friends, this morning.

It comes a day before the first anniversary of the legendary singer’s death.

The Dublin museum is already home to wax recreations of the likes of Phil Lynott, Michael Jackson and Jedward.

The figure was created by wax artist PJ Heraghty – and will be his last after 40 years in the business.

Asked whether he was happy with how it turned out, he said: “I did the best I could.”

“So sorry Sinéad if you don’t like it, but hopefully you do.”

The figure is the museum’s first new addition in two years.

In a statement, it said O’Connor left an indelible mark on Irish culture – adding that the figure “captures her essence and spirit”, while celebrating her “legacy and influence”.

“We are deeply honoured to pay tribute to Sinéad O’Connor with this new wax figure,” said Mr Dunning.

“I met Sinéad 40 years ago when she walked into Temple Lane Studios for the first time when she was 17 and I was 18.

“We’d been great friends and close since that first time.”

The National Wax Museum Plus offers visitors a diverse collection of wax figures representing notable Irish and international personalities from various fields – including music, literature, film, and politics.

The museum also features interactive exhibits that offer a hands-on experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the stories and achievements of the individuals on display.
