SIPTU workers at the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and Aer Lingus have deferred their planned industrial action for next Monday.
The union is to enter talks at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) tomorrow.
It says as a result proposed staggered work stoppages have been deferred.
The dispute with the DAA relates to the pension plan of the company.
The industrial action may have affected all 3 of the main airports here.
Representatives of SIPTU met this morning and decided to engage in discussions.
The invitation to talks was extended by the LRC.
The High Court was due to hear an application tomorrow by the DAA seeking to halt the action.
It is thought that the trade union could have been sued by Aer Lingus for at least €2 million per day in potential losses if the planned action goes ahead.
In a letter sent to the union on Tuesday the airline maintained that the row with the union over pensions did not constitute a trade dispute.
