SIPTU is the largest trade union in the country - and it's support of the Croke Park extension deal is considered key.
The Executive Council met earlier this month to decide on its recommendation for members - but failed to reach a decision and postponed discussions until today.
Union President Jack O'Connor has been critical of the deal.
But speaking ahead of today's meeting, the Irish Independent reports that Mr O'Connor has now described the proposals as not perfect - but probably as fair as could be made.
SIPTU members will begin voting next Tuesday - and the result of all union ballots will be known next month.
