€21 million worth of drugs, mainly cocaine, was discovered on a Maltese cargo ship docked in Foynes Port, Limerick on December 19th.
The 20,000-tonne vessel is believed to have been carrying grain, but officials also seized a “significant” volume of suspected drugs.
This is the second major cocaine seizure at sea this year, following the seizure of €157 million worth of the drug from the MV Matthew in September.
