There is an orange weather warning for the north and a yellow warning for Dublin for this evening.
The newly introduced weather alert system from Met Éireann tells us to look out for snow blizzards in Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.
It says a rain, sleet and snow mix will give some lying snow accumulations especially on hills but also at some lower levels. There will also be blizzards and drifting in the strong winds.
There are also warnings of widespread heavy rain, spot-flooding and gale force winds heading for Leinster.
The Met says widespread heavy rain or prolonged showers will give rise to some spot flooding. It says Eastern coastal areas are especially at risk due to strong to gale force East to south-east winds.
Forecaster Harm Luijkx says Dublin will escape the snow but it is going to be a wet one.
