A soldier, who is accused of attacking his girlfriend at a Dublin army barracks, has been granted bail.
23-year-old Darragh Baldrick, who is based at Cathal Brugha Barracks, Rathmines was charged with serious assault following an incident in the early hours of yesterday morning.
He appeared at Dublin District Court today where he was granted bail, on the condition he does not make any contact with his partner and stays away from her home.
Mr Baldrick’s defence team sought reporting restrictions on the case but they were not granted with Judge Brendan O’Reilly noting that that was ‘stretching it a bit’.
The charge is under Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
Mr Baldrick will appear back in court in July, when the DPP will give direction on the case.
