A soldier has died at an army barracks in Dublin, in what the Defence Forces are describing as a tragic accident.
Private Patrick 'Paddy' Conlon (32) fell from a height in McKee Barracks, in the early hours of this morning.
Private Conlon was based in the 28th Infantry Battalion, Co Donegal with an address at Cooloney, Co Sligo.
He was pronounced dead in the Mater Hospital at 2.10am.
A Military Police and garda investigation has been launched.
Private Conlon's next of kin have been informed.
The Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Seán McCann has extended his sympathies to the Conlon family and their friends in their time of need, offering the organisation's prayers and support.
