Nearly 130 people are reported to have died after a boat sank in Lake Tanganyika in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A local transport minister has suggested the vessel may have been carrying excess weight.

A number of other passengers were rescued.

The vessel was said to be travelling north from Katanga province to South Kivu province.
