Around 5,000 people took to the streets of Ballyconnell in Co. Cavan last night to show their support for bankrupt businessman, Sean Quinn and his family.
Mr. Quinn – the former head of the Quinn Group – his son Sean Junior and his nephew Peter-Darragh Quinn have all been before the High Court in recent months in relation to debts owed to Anglo Irish Bank.
The rally last night was organised by the group Concerned Irish Citizens.
They are demanding the suspension of the contempt orders issued against the 3 Quinn men.
Many well known GAA figures addressed the crowd at the demonstration with Tyrone Manager Mickey Harte describing the Quinn family as “decent people”.
An emotional Sean Quinn Senior also addressed the crowd saying an “untrue story is being told” but that “hopefully justice will prevail”.
Breakfast here on Newstalk gave a wrap of the events last night.
