A Spanish mayor has decided to take food from supermarkets to help those suffering from the recession.
Juan-Manuel Sánchez Gordillo is mayor in the southern Spanish town of Marinaleda in the Andalucía region.
He is being hailed as a ‘real life Robin Hood’.

He has immunity from prosecution as an elected member of the Spanish parliament.
He is also due to take part in a 3-week march against unemployment.
A Facebook page has been set up in his name which has over 14,000 ‘likes’.
