Gardai say the number of people caught speeding was cut in half during a crackdown last weekend.

‘Operation Slow Down’ ran over 24 hours from 7 am last Friday, and those involved say a change in driver behaviour was obvious.

154 motorists were caught speeding, when typically in that time period, Gardai would expect about 300 detections.

More than 75 thousand vehicles were monitored by the GoSafe camera vans during the operation.
