Over 150 people gathered in Dublin earlier for the funeral of Dean Fitzpatrick.

The 23-year-old's Mother, Audrey was unable to attend the service at the Holy Trinity Church in Donaghmede after she took ill last night.

The Father of one was stabbed at an apartment on the Malahide Road 10 days ago.

During his homily, Fr. Eoin McCrystal told the congregation that Dean was a proud father and that he was devastated when his sister Amy went missing in Spain 5 years ago.

He also appealed to Dean's friends not to be afraid to talk about their feelings.

Dean is being laid to rest this afternoon at Fingal Cemetary.

High Court ruling

On Friday the High Court ordered the release of his body to his partner Sarah O'Rourke after a dispute arose between his parents over where he should be buried.

Dean's stepfather Dave Mahon was named during the court hearing as a suspect and has been questioned about the fatal stabbing, after presenting himself to gardaí.
