The boy who stars in this year's SuperValu Christmas ad has said it was "really fun" to take part in the production.
Cian Kearney plays Conor, a young boy who can't wait to see his grandad at Christmas.
It is the first acting part for the eight-year-old and the ad has captured the imagination of people nationwide.
Cian was speaking on Newstalk Breakfast with Susan Keogh today and was joined by Gerry Herbert, who plays his grandfather in the ad.
Cian said it was great coming into school once the ad aired last week with everyone greeting him as Conor.
On the role, he said: "It was really fun, it wasn't too hard.
"In places, it got a bit tricky but it was mostly fun."
Cian added that he"definitely" got the acting bug from his father who was interested in the craft from a young age and starred in War of the Buttons.
He said he hopes to see his grandparents this Christmas as he missed them "a lot" during the COVID-19 restrictions.
The role was not the first for Gerry, however, as he has starred in several ads already, including one with Pierce Brosnan.
He said he has played "sweet old grandads" in other ads where people are coming home for Christmas.
Gerry said his day job is as a drama teacher and Cian "knocked it out of the park" in playing Conor.
He added: "It's like at football clubs across the country, sometimes you come across a kid who just has natural talent and ability.
"By God, Cian knocked it out of the park and he was incredible in the ad.
However, due to the coronavirus restrictions, the pair did not get to interact much on set.
He said: "Because I am a man of a certain age, I was given special treatment under the COVID regulations."
He added that he thinks the reason the ad has received such a warm reception is that it reflects "the whole idea of what we would like our Christmas to be" this year.
Gerry said he has six grandchildren of his own who he hopes to see over the festive season.
