Stars including Sir who performed at the Olympic Opening Ceremony were paid a fee of just £1.

It’s believed big names such as Mike Oldfield, Dizzee Rascal and Emeli Sande had agreed to play for free but the £1 fee was included to make the contract binding.

It means the stars were paid less than one-twentieth of the cost of the cheapest ticket for the ceremony.
