Starsky & Hutch actor David Soul has passed away aged 80, his wife has confirmed.
The US-born actor died yesterday surrounded by his close family.
He was famous for playing the role of Detective Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson alongside co-star Paul Michael Glaser as Starsky in the crime series which ran from 1975 to 1979.
The pair reprised their roles in the 2004 remake Starsky & Hutch, starring Ben Stiller as Starsky and Owen Wilson as Hutch.
Souls’ wife Helen Snell said in a statement:
“David Soul - beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother - died yesterday after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family,” she said.
"He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as an actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend.
"His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched."
The actor was also known for in Here Come The Brides, Magnum Force and The Yellow Rose.
