State still owes over €400 million for tribunals

Both inquiries have made their final report however the state has yet to pay the bulk of the legal costs for those involved over a 15 year period.

According to the Irish Times one of the biggest bills so far has been for the legal team who represented whistleblower James Gogarty they have been paid over €3.5 million.

Mr Gogarty first revealed details of corrupt payments to former Minister Ray Burke.
