There has been an 81% increase in the number of staycations. With the good weather last month Donegal saw the best boost with an 800% increase on ebookers.ie.
Bray in Co. Wicklow, Adare in Co. Limerick and Co. Kildare were joint second with each showing a four-fold increase in bookings on the site.
With the hottest day of the year so far in July, staycation bookings saw the surge in July and August.
Other places that topped the list were Killarney, County Cork and Westport. They all saw increases of between 200 and 400% in staycation bookings for the period.
Other Irish destinations have also seen an increase in last minute bookings with Wexford (up 80%), Sligo (75%), Dublin (58%) and Galway (42%) all up on last year.

"The unprecedented hot weather we have experienced so far this summer has meant that we have seen a strong increase in the number of bookings for Ireland. Overseas bookings are remaining steady, but the heat wave has caused an increase in domestic bookings that is great to see" he said.
