A steam leak has injured two workers at a nuclear power plant in eastern France.
Power utility EDF confirmed the incident at its Fessemheim nuclear plant but denied earlier reports that a fire had broken out.
The facility is located in Alsace in the east of the country.
It said steam escaped during a maintenance operation which set off the fire alarm.
An EDF spokeswoman said “No fire broke out…During a maintenance operation steam escaped which set off the fire alarm”.
The two injured workers are agents for EDF.
Shares in the company fell 2.5% after the incident.
The Fessemheim plant is the oldest nuclear facility in France.
It has been in operation since 1977.
French President Francois Hollande has pledged to shut the site by 2017.
