It means there will now be a total of 567 operational Garda stations in the country.
The outgoing Transport Minister Shane Ross had long campaigned for the station - which is located in his former constituency of Dublin Rathdown - to be reopened.
He has previously denied that moves to reopen the station represented 'stroke politics'.
