The family of cancer charity fundraiser Stephen Sutton have confirmed that the teenager died in his sleep.

Stephen raised over £3million for The Teenage Cancer Trust charity before his death, keeping followers updated on his journey through a blog and social media platforms.

After publishing a bucket list on his Facebook page of things he wants to do before he dies, Stephen commented on the astounding support shown for his campaign: "I've always been a firm believer that people are 'good' and to see people come together in the way they have is incredibly touching and heart-warming."

Despite being hopeful of a recovery earlier this month, the teenager was re-admitted to hospital yesterday.

This morning, Stephen’s mother confirmed the sad news that he had passed away overnight.
