Stolen car parts worth more than €30,000 have been recovered by gardaí in Co Westmeath.
Gardaí carried out a search of abusiness premises in Mullingar yesterday and examined two vans where the parts were found.
The parts recovered included seats, dash consoles, air bags, CPUs and steering wheels for leading car brands.
A man in his 30s was later arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Mullingar garda station for questioning.
He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí seized both vans for a forensic examination and the car parts will also be examined by to fully establish their origins.
The searches were carried out as part of Operation Thor which targets an organised criminal group involved in motor car theft.
Yesterday’s operation was led by the Divisional Drug Unit assisted by the Dog Unit, District Detective and uniformed gardaí, Armed Support Unit and Roads Policing Unit.
Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
