Met Éireann has suddenly named the arrival of Storm Elin last night and warned of ‘gale force winds’ and rain in most parts of the country today.
An Orange wind weather warning was issued for Dublin late last night. Met Éireann warned people can expect “strong gusts” from 12pm to 3pm today.
An Orange wind weather warning was also issued for Wicklow and is expected to last from 11am to 5pm.
People in Donegal will wake up to a string of weather warnings this morning as a result of Storm Elin, with an Orange wind warning in place from 2pm to 6pm.

Two Yellow wind and rain warnings were also issued for the northern county from both 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm today.
A Yellow wind warning was issued for Clare, Tipperary and Connacht from 8am this morning to 6pm.
Another warning was issued for Cavan, Monaghan and Leinster from 10am to 8pm as a result of Storm Elin.
Met Éireann has warned of difficult travel conditions and the risk of debris and loose objects falling.
Storm Elin a 'late storm'
Winds in the west are already up to 98km per hour, according to meteorologist Alan O’Reilly.
Mr O’Reilly said on X, formerly known as Twitter, flights at Dublin Airport could be delayed as a result of this severe wind.
He noted Storm Elin is a “late storm” named by Met Éireann and urged people to share information on weather warnings with others.
In Northern Ireland, the UK’s Met Office has issued rain and wind warnings for Antrim, Down, Tyrone and Derry.
Storm Elin is the fifth storm to be named in the 2023/24 weather season, issued on September 1st.
A Red Weather wind warning was previously issued in five counties on November 12th, a "rare and very dangerous" weather conditions from intense meteorological phenomena.
