New flood warnings are in place for Cork and Clare over the next two days.

Cork City Council has issued a new flood alert for tomorrow evening. It says a predicted storm surge, along with high tide may cause flooding on city streets.

High tide in Cork is due at 5:30pm tomorrow and the Council says flooding may occur in low-lying areas.

Meanwhile Clare County Council has issued a flood and storm warning for the entire county over the next 48 hours.

The local authority said that given the high tides, projected high rainfall and strong winds "there is significant risk of river, coastal and tidal flooding".

The Council has also warned of potential travel disruption on the roads as a result of trees falling that have already been already compromised by the storm yesterday.

Meanwhile the ESB says between 60,000 to 80,000 customers are still without power. customers remain without power. Over 2,000 technicians are continuing efforts to restore services with Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Clare the worst-affected.

Meanwhile Eircom says it is working to repair 80,000 faults.

Gardai, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and AA Roadwatch are warning road users to expect hazardous conditions on many routes.

Met Eireann says the storm yesterday was among the top five worst to hit Ireland. It says the adverse weather will continue over the coming days, with more heavy rain and strong winds forecast.

Paul Hickey the ESB operations manager is warning that it will take a number of days to repair the widespread damage.

Meanwhile Met Eireann has issued a Yellow weather alert nationally, warning of snow showers and icy conditions across the country today.

The emergency coordination group of government met earlier to discuss its response to the storm.

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar told Newstalk Breakfast the government is yet to decide whether or not to boost its disaster relief fund.
