Outbreaks of rain will clear eastwards this morning, brightening up from the west with sunny spells developing.
There will also be some scattered showers - some of them turning heavy with a risk of hail and thunder in west Munster, Connacht and later in west Ulster.
Any showers will be more isolated this afternoon in the east and southeast.
Maximum temperatures of 9C to 12C in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds.
TONIGHT
Tonight, there will be further scattered showers, most frequent in the western half of the country – with a risk of hail and thunder, especially in Atlantic coastal areas.
Showers will retreat to Atlantic coastal counties later, with good clear spells developing.
Minimum temperatures of 2C to 6C in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds; strong and gusty on western and northern coasts.
