Supermac's is Ireland’s largest indigenous fast-food restaurant chain with 120 outlets across the country.
The franchise recently won a major case against McDonald's over the ‘Big Mac’ trademark.
The European Court of Justice ruled that McDonald's could not use the trademark when it came to poultry products.
The ruling means Supermac’s can now expand across the European Union with its brand.
On the ruling, Mr McDonagh told The Pat Kenny Show it represents a significant victory for small businesses and "a big win for anyone with the surname Mac."
