The advertising standards watchdog has upheld a complaint against Supervalu after it emerged that a bottle of wine in a half price sale was only 1 cent cheaper than the regular price.
A customer complained that the half price wine sale was misleading, after producing receipts from four moths ago showing a particular wine advertised as half price at €8.49 had initially been sold at €8.50 - and not €16.99 as advertised in store.
The company said a mix-up had occurred between their trading and marketing departments and apologised for the error.
The complaint is one of 13 investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI). 12 of these were upheld.
