Support for Labour has increased in the latest political opinion poll.

Tomorrow’s poll for the Sunday Independent shows support up two points to 8 - with Sinn Féin support falling by the same amount.

Eight percent is still far from where Labour would like to be, but for now they will be happy to settle with that rating in the Millward Brown poll.

Their two-point gain comes at the expense of Sinn Féin, who fall to 24 - down two points from the last similar poll two months ago.

That means that Fine Gael are once more the most popular political party, as they remain unchanged on 25%.

Fianna Fáil are also unchanged, on 19% - a score which will not do much to quell the unease about Micheál Martin’s performance.

The Greens are up two points to 3, with the Socialist Party on 2 - the same score as Renua Ireland. Independent candidates are on 16%.
