The Support Sean Cox campaign has issued a thank you to everyone who has “done so much” for the Meath man and his family a year to day since he was attacked outside Anfield football stadium.
Mr Cox suffered life-changing injuries in attack ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final against AS Roma last year.
Hundreds of events have been held to raise funds for his rehabilitation – with the campaign announcing that it had reached its €2m fundraising target earlier this month.
The pick of the events was the Liverpool V Ireland legends match at the Aviva stadium nearly two weeks ago.
In a tweet this afternoon the campaign said: “On the first anniversary of Sean's attack, the Support Sean team would like to thank everyone who has done so much for Sean and the Cox family.
“To those who helped in this part of Sean’s journey, we salute you.
“All of our thoughts are with Sean and the Cox family today.”

Liverpool also posted a tribute this afternoon saying: “Twelve months on, our hearts and prayers are with Seán and his family as he continues his rehabilitation journey.”
