A 19 year old man has drowned in Co. Cork.

The teenager was swimming in the Blackwater River in Mallow with the group of friends, earlier this evening, when he got into difficulty.

A search operation was launched shortly before 6pm and the man’s body was recovered around an hour later.

Authorities say they’re treating the incident as a tragic accident.
