Syria has presented a submission to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on how it plans to destroy its chemical weapons.

Today was the deadline for Damascus to submit a destruction plan.

Syria has until the middle of next year to destroy its chemical arsenal.

Meanwhile, the first monthly report on the work of the OPCW-UN Joint Mission in Syria has been forwarded to the Security Council through the UN Secretary-General.

It covers the progress made since inspections began in Syria following the deployment of the advance team on the first of October.

This work included the priority task of making chemical weapons production facilities and mixing and filling plants inoperable.
