5,000 homes around the country are currently without power, following last night's storm.
2,000 properties have been affected in the Fermoy area of Co. Cork - 2,000 others in Mullingar in Co. Westmeath - and 1,000 in the Arklow area of Co. Wicklow.
Crews from ESB Networks are working to restore power by early afternoon.
Elsewhere DART services remain suspended between Bray and Greystones in Co. Wicklow - as a result of lightning damage to overhead lines.
The lightening storm overnight means some DART services are disrupted.

Overhead cabling was damaged on the line.
Iarnród Éireann has updated its Twitter feed to indicate that Rosslare and commuter trains are not affected.
