Using an e-scooter was a “terrifying” experience, Lunchtime Live presenter Andrea Gilligan has said.
As part of #MyCommuteNT, Andrea decided to do something a little bit outside of her comfort zone and rented the scooter to get to work.
“I had to turn around and leave it at home,” she admitted.
“I’m not a big fan and to be honest I actually found it kind of terrifying if I’m being truly honest.”

Andrea is not an experienced cyclist and she did not feel safe while using it.
“I’m not used to cycling, I haven’t cycled a bike since I was in primary school, so maybe I should have started with a bike,” she continued.
“My friend told me over the weekend with the e-scooter, ‘Don’t use it in the rain and don’t use it after it’s rained on the roads.’
“I live extremely close to the city centre and half of my route doesn’t have cycle lanes. So when I was on the e-scooter coming in this morning and… I was just petrified of a car door opening for the majority of the journey that I did.
“And I just found it really hard to get past that.”
