Gardaí in south Dublin are investigating after a man's body was found in Tallaght.

Officers are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the discovery at a house in Ellensborough Lodge.

The body of the man, aged in his 40s, was found at approximately 4.30am this morning.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, and a post mortem is set to take place this afternoon at Tallaght Hospital.

Gardaí sat those results will determine the course of the investigation.
