The out-going Cabinet has met for the last time. Ministers concluded their weekly meeting this afternoon ahead of a re-shuffle expected tomorrow.
Talks between the Taoiseach and Tánaiste on the renewal of government and the re-shuffle are expected to continue throughout today.
Speaking outside Government Buildings earlier, the Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin said his colleagues can be proud of their achievements.
He says Ministers who lose their portfolios or are moved to other Departments can be proud of what they have done to "rescue the country from absolute peril".
He says the focus now should be on progressing the economy rather than arguing over who gets what portfolio.
Both Enda Kenny and Joan Burton are understood to have gone through key priorities but they have yet to agree any re-shuffle.
An announcement on a re-shuffle is not expected before tomorrow, partly because Finance Minister Michael Noonan is in Brussels on government business until this evening.
The two leaders have to thrash out portfolios and decide the people being appointed to those roles.
