Investigations are continuing into whether a cross-border inquiry can be held into the movement of alleged sex abusers.
A so-called "scoping exercise" is underway to determine the extent of movement across the border.
It is believed a cross-border inquiry will only be held if it does not impact on any criminal prosecutions that are currently underway.
