The Taoiseach says he intends to lead Fine Gael into the next general election in April 2016.
The comments from Enda Kenny come as speculation continues that he may be offered one of two jobs in Europe next year.
He is currently the centre of attention for President of the European Commission or as head of the European Council.
So far the Taoiseach has refused to engage in the speculation - a position he maintained when he spoke to Midwest Radio in Mayo today.
It had been reported earlier this year that Mr. Kenny was being tipped as a frontrunner to take over as the European Council President when the position comes up in December next year.
The President chairs the meetings of EU leaders where all the major decisions are made.
The next President will be picked directly by the 28 EU leaders.
