The Taoiseach is to meet US President Joe Biden at the White House next month.
Simon Harris and President Biden will hold a meeting followed by an event to mark the centenary of bilateral diplomatic relations between Ireland and the US.
The US was the first country to recognise Ireland's place among the nations of the world in June 1924.
The event will also be seen as an opportunity to reflect on President Biden's career-long friendship with Ireland.
President Biden has visited Ireland a number of times, most recently in April 2023.
He is a proud Irish-American who is fond of quoting Irish poets and has even been known to speak a cúpla focail from time to time.
In Ballina, President Biden spoke of "enormous possibilities" for both nations.
"I've never been more optimistic of what we can achieve if we stick together and stick to our values," he said.
"This is a time of enormous possibilities.
"United by history, heritage and hope - and maybe most of all by courage - nothing is beyond our reach".
As US Vice-President in 2016 President Biden undertook an extensive tour of Ireland - including to his ancestral counties of Mayo and Louth.
During his visit to Washington DC, the Taoiseach will also undertake a number of other engagements.
