The Minister for Finance has confirmed that the tax take to the end of November is 8.5 per cent - almost €3bn - up on the same time last year.
The latest Exchequer figures - published this evening - show just over €38bn in revenue has been collected.
The four main tax headings - income tax, VAT, Corporation tax and excise duties - are all up, with tax take €1.1bn ahead of projections.
The figures are “pretty strong,” Mr Noonan said.
“November is a very big tax month, so they’re around the €6bn mark.
“So far it’s been a very good year for tax and with 11 months gone we’re not only well ahead of last year’s budget but we’re ahead of this year’s budget,” he added.
