Taxi drivers are staging a protest in Dublin city this afternoon.
Hundreds of drivers are expected to travel from the Phoenix Park to Leinster House at 2pm.
The demonstration is over a new fare structure by the National Transport Authority (NTA), which will see prices lowered.
The National Private Hire and Taxi Association (NPHTA) say included in the changes is the removal of tariff C, which they claim will mean a loss of 32 cent per kilometre for journeys over 30 kilometres during day time hours.
The initial start fare will drop from €4.10/€4.45 to €3.60 in the day time, and €4.00 night time.
The group says the reprogramming of meters will cost drivers more than €4m.
The changes are due to come into effect in April. The protest is being supported by the NPHTA and the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation (ITDF).
