Tayto has recalled several of its products after a golf ball seemingly made its way into some crisp packets.
Tayto Snacks said some products with best before dates in late August have been taken off shelves.
In a statement, the company said, “fragments of a golf ball were found to be present in a small number of packs.”
“We believe this material may have inadvertently been harvested with our potatoes,” it said.
The company said it issued a ‘precautionary recall’ in the “best interest of consumers”.
Any packets with best before dates of August 21st, 22nd and 23rd have been removed.
Products recalled include:
- Tayto Cheese & Onion 37g packet
- Salt & Vinegar 37g
- Cheese & Onion 6 pack (6x25g)
- Tayto Variety 6 pack (6x25g)
- Cheese & Onion 6 pack marked €2.50 (6x25g)
- Tayto Variety 6 pack marked €2.50 (6x25g)
- Cheese & Onion 10 pack marked €3.75 (10x25g)
- Cheese & Onion 12 pack (12x25g).
Tayto said it is “working closely” with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland to remove any affected products.
