A teenager has been charged in connection with a stabbing at Renmore Barracks.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, just before 11pm, and resulted in army chaplain Fr Paul Murphy undergoing surgery for his injuries.
Gardaí say the "male child" who has been charged will appear before Galway District Court at 2pm this afternoon.
They are reminding the public to be aware of Section 93 of the Children Act (2001), which "imposes restrictions on the publication of any particulars, including any picture, that could lead to the identification of any child involved in criminal proceedings."
Gardaí are also investigating whether the stabbing attack was motivated by terrorism.
