A young teenage boy has been released from custody after being arrested over a road crash in County Wicklow.
A teenage girl was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash at Baltinglass, Slaney Park, shortly after it happened at 5am yesterday morning.
She is the first person to die on the roads this May bank holiday weekend.
Her body has been removed from the scene for a post-mortem examination which will be carried out in the coming days.
A young teenage boy was arrested and was being held in a garda station in Wicklow, but has since been released.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí in Wicklow are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They are particularly interested in anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time.
