A teenage girl has been killed in a single-vehicle road crash in County Wicklow overnight.
It happened shortly before 5am at Slaney Park in Baltinglass.
The passenger in the car, a girl in her teens, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car, a boy in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act.
He is still being detained at a Garda Station in Wicklow under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
The road at Slaney Park is currently closed for forensic investigation with local diversions in place.
Gardaí in Wicklow are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They are particularly interested in anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time.
